Moorhead Public Service Announces the Sale of GoMoorhead.com

Letter to GoMoorhead.com Customers
Dear GoMoorhead.com Customers:

First, I want to thank you for being a customer of GoMoorhead.com. Many of you have been with us from the beginning, nearly four years ago. GoMoorhead.com has seen a lot of growth and changes over the past four years, and the time for change has come again. This evening, the Moorhead Public Service Commission announced the sale of GoMoorhead.com to Moorhead-based 702 Communications.

Both Moorhead Public Service (MPS) and 702 Communications (702) are committed to ensuring a smooth transition with no noticeable disturbance in service.

MPS has operated GoMoorhead.com since the fall of 2005, offering an affordable, high-speed Internet service option for the residents of Moorhead. Over the past four years, much has changed. Over the next four years, I would expect that much more will change. The market for Internet Service Providers (ISP) is ever changing. The demand for faster speeds and the increase in competition has caused the Moorhead Public Service Commission (Commission) and MPS staff to evaluate GoMoorhead.com as part of the mission of MPS.

Maybe I can answer a few questions that might be running through your mind:

What does this mean for me, a GoMoorhead.com customer?
Operationally, we hope it means very little disturbance. MPS staff is committed to assisting during the transition to 702. We intend to work with 702 so that everything from the billing to the technology moves smoothly. In the contract negotiations with 702, MPS made sure your prices would not increase for the next year and 702 agreed. The future for GoMoorhead.com looks good. If MPS was not sure their customers would be taken care of, this sale would not have taken place.

What about billing, will that change?
Initially, it is the intent of MPS to assist 702 in the transition of billing. Any automatic payments from credit cards or bank accounts will continue and paper bills will be mailed as usual. At some point, minor changes may take place as 702 integrates the GoMoorhead.com billing into their system, but those changes will be announced by 702 when their timing is right.

What will this do for my service?
702 will be acquiring all assets of GoMoorhead.com-this means all the equipment that is in place throughout Moorhead will still be utilized by 702. Contracts are in place that will allow 702 to utilize MPS' fiber optic system, allowing 702 to seamlessly deliver the GoMoorhead.com service. 702 also has infrastructure of their own that will allow them to enhance the system in the areas that need more attention.

As more information regarding this sale becomes available, we will continue to keep you informed. We will also be updating the www.GoMoorhead.com Website with information as we have information to share.
